Safari at Ivindo National Park
10 Days and 09 Nights to the discovery of Libreville, Makoukou and Momba
It is located in the northeast of Gabon, in the Ogooué province. The Ivindo National Park was created in 2002 and covers an area of 300,000 ha. It is a very important forest block, much of which has not been affected by logging. It is crossed by the Ivindo River, one of the most important Ogooué tributaries. Much of the park is covered with very old dense forests and is home to rich and rare biodiversity. A particular flora grows around the Kongou and the Djidji waterfalls, which are among the most spectacular of Central Africa. This park has an undeniable tourist asset, the Gorilla (Gorilla Gorilla) and the chimpanzee (Pan Troglodytes) are abundant. The fauna is made up of 131 mammal species including 17 primates, 13 carnivores, 16 ungulates and about 430 Bird species such as Jacob parrots, the raptors, the Picatharte of Cameroon and many more.
Day 01: Hexagon - Libreville
Day 02: Libreville - Makokou
Day 03: Kongou and Mingouli Waterfalls
Day 4, 5, 6: Kongou – Mohaba - Melondo – Momba-Baie
After breakfast, canoe ride through the jungle to observe animals in clearings. We will cross several streams and rivers to reach the clearings in order to make a good observation, we will contemplate the arrival of the kings of the forest from a safe distance: Elephants, buffaloes, Sitatunga but also the gorillas. After exciting observations to discover the wildlife we will return in the evening the camp at night, dinners and overnight.
Day 07: Momba-Baie - Makokou
Early wake-up, breakfast and canoe ride to Makokou, arrival, installation at the hotel, relaxation and stroll through the city, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Makokou - Ndoumabango
After breakfast, canoe ride to the Pygmy village in Ndoumabango (about 1h30 of canoe ride), arrival, installation and interaction with the Pygmies. Return in the evening to the town, dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Makokou - Libreville
Day 10: Libreville - Hexagon
Breakfast and excursion to the Cape Estérias. It is located about twenty kilometers from Libreville. Cape Estérias is a good spot for a small excursion to bask on the beach, the immediate vegetation and the few fishermen give to Cape Esterias a truly wild side and the beauty of the beaches brings a breath of fresh air in the city. Breakfast and visit of Libreville, visit the Art and traditions Museum, the Saint Michel church of Nkembo, the arboretum, the Léon Mba memorial, the Stele of freedom, lunch in a restaurant in town, shopping at the craft center, evaluation of the tour, transfer to the Airport and End of the tour.
